Status: Ready (Smootify 2.0)
URL: https://www.smootify.io/docs/reference/elements/customer-user-update
Updated: 2026-10-13

## Where it can go

- **Anywhere** on the page.
- **Must contain** `form`, `input[name="firstName"]`, `input[name="lastName"]`.
- **Out of place,** Smootify removes it from the page: no form or name inputs; logs a warning.

## What it requires

- Shopify’s **customer accounts**, and `newCustomerAccountsPublicKey` in [`SmootifyUserOptions`](https://www.smootify.io/docs/reference/options).

## Fields in the form

Each field’s **Name** setting in Webflow tells Smootify what the field holds. It is a setting of the field, not a custom attribute.

| Name | Field | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `firstName`, `lastName` | Text field input | **Required** (removed without either). The customer’s first and last name, prefilled when the customer has one and the field is not focused. |
| any other name | — | Not sent: only the first and last name go to Shopify. |

## Loading
