When you build a store for a client, the Shopify store, the Webflow site and the Smootify project start in your accounts. At the end, each one moves to the client. This page goes through the three platforms in order, and says what to reconnect afterwards.

> [!NOTE]
> Skip the Shopify part if the store was created in the client's own Shopify account, and the Webflow part if the site was built in the client's workspace.

## 1. Shopify: transfer the store

This part is for a development store created from your Shopify Partner account.

1. Log in to the Shopify Partner Dashboard, find the development store and log in to it.
2. In the store’s admin, go to **Settings → Users and permissions**.
3. In **Store owner**, click **Transfer ownership**, fill in the client’s details and confirm.
4. The client gets an email to accept the transfer, and chooses a Shopify plan.

> [!WARNING]
> The transfer cannot be undone. If the client does not accept it and pick a plan, the store is lost, and you cannot get access to it again.

The Headless storefront and its token belong to the store, so they move with it.

## 2. Webflow: transfer the site

1. Transfer the site to the client’s Webflow workspace, from the site’s settings.
2. The client adds a site plan to the site.
3. The client connects the custom domain to the site and publishes it. See [Domains and checkout](https://www.smootify.io/docs/start/domains).

> [!WARNING]
> Transfer the original site, not a copy. Smootify is connected to that exact site: a copy is a new site for Smootify, and the whole connection would have to be set up again.

## 3. Smootify: give the project to the client

1. **The client’s account.** The client creates an account in the Smootify dashboard. The next step needs it.
2. **Share the project.** In the dashboard, open the project and share it with the client’s email. You both keep access. To give it away completely, transfer it instead: the client gets it, and it leaves your account.
3. **The plan.** The client picks a paid plan from the project in the dashboard. The plan is billed through Shopify, on the store’s bill.
4. **The domain.** Check that the live domain is in the project settings, written exactly as the site is published. Without it, Smootify does not run on the live site.
5. **Reconnect the Webflow site.** A Webflow transfer removes Smootify’s access to the site, and the CMS sync stops. Connect the site again from the dashboard and pick the same site in Webflow. The project keeps its plan: only the access to Webflow is renewed.

## Where people get stuck

> [!STUCK]
> - **The client does not see the project.** No Smootify account uses the email you shared it with. The client signs up first, with that email.
> - **The CMS sync stopped after the transfer.** Webflow removed Smootify's access with the transfer. Connect the same site again from the dashboard.
> - **The banner "Project not Connected".** A copy of the site was transferred, not the original.
> - **The banner "To connect your custom domain … you need an active Smootify Plan".** The client has not picked a plan yet, or the domain is missing from the project settings.
