2.0 Beta

Smootify 2.0 is in public beta. Your 1.x store keeps working. Move when you want.

What changed
Smootify for AstroBeta

Your Shopify store,
built in Astro.

The same Smootify 2.0, in an Astro project. Your agent builds the store from the Figma kit, Shopify runs products and checkout, and Cloudflare hosts the site. Same plans, same 17 add-ons, no Webflow plan.

Free on localhost and on workers.dev previews, with a Smootify badge. Your plan unlocks your own domain.

how it works

An integration, not a theme.

An Astro integration

Add @smootify/astro to the project and configure it with smootify({ siteId }). It injects the Smootify loader from our CDN, so the runtime is never in your bundle.

Pages from Shopify, at build time

Astro content loaders read products, collections, vendors, blog, articles, pages and metaobjects from Shopify. Build the pages static, or live with SSR and a cache. Shopify webhooks bring the updates, so there is no sync to run.

The same 2.0 contract

The same elements and attributes as on Webflow, run by the same runtime in a build made for Astro. Only the pieces Webflow draws itself, such as dropdowns, tabs and forms, become plain HTML.

setup

One line in astro.config.

The cart, the customer account, filters and search run in the browser, as on Webflow. Home, product and collection pages arrive already filled from Shopify, so the first visit makes no Storefront query.

// astro.config.mjs
import { defineConfig } from 'astro/config';
import smootify from '@smootify/astro';

export default defineConfig({
  integrations: [smootify({ siteId })],
});
your agent

The same skills build it.

Nothing new to learn for your agent: the Astro path uses the files it already reads for Webflow.

  • The same Figma kit, annotations and skills as on Webflow
  • One build skill: it sees an Astro project and writes .astro components into it
  • Plus <SmootifyProducts> and <ProductSeo> from the package
  • The Smootify MCP covers the 2.0 contract, and check_markup checks Astro markup
Deploy

On Cloudflare: static by default, or ISR and SSR on Workers with @astrojs/cloudflare.

How the agent works
webflow or astro

Which one?

Same Smootify, the same plans, add-ons and Shopify invoice. The difference is who builds and edits the site, and where it lives. Pick the one that fits the team.

Choose Webflow if…

  • Designers or clients edit the site visually, in the Webflow Designer
  • You want the Webflow app’s ready components
  • The content is edited in the Webflow CMS
  • You already have a Webflow site, or you are a Webflow agency
  • You build interactions visually
The Webflow path

Choose Astro if…Beta

  • Your agent or your developers do the build
  • You want pages that arrive pre-rendered from Shopify, with no Storefront query on the first visit to home, product and collection pages
  • You want a lower monthly cost: no Webflow plan, no Localize add-on for more languages
  • You want your own code, in git
  • You host on Cloudflare

hydrogen

Why not Hydrogen?

Since October 2026 (Hydrogen 2026-10), Shopify’s Hydrogen works with any JavaScript framework, Astro included. It is a great tool if you want to write the store yourself. Smootify is for the complete store, without rewriting it.

Hydrogen

A set of Shopify primitives, such as the Storefront API client, the cart, products, collections and Shop Pay. You write the rest. Anything beyond them, such as bundles, boxes, bookings, quotes, reviews and a wishlist, is code of your own or a Shopify app you install and pay for separately.

Smootify

Batteries included, on the server too:

The cart, variants, filters and the other add-ons are HTML with attributes, not code: the same markup as on Webflow. Studio builds the site from your Figma file with Claude.

Fewer apps to pay for, too: the 17 add-ons come with the plan, in place of the 13 paid apps counted in the savings calculator.

same plans, two front ends

Build in Astro, and Webflow leaves the bill.

The Smootify plans and features are the same on both paths. With Astro there is no Webflow plan: Cloudflare hosts the site for $5 a month, so the same store costs $20 a month less.

Build in Astro

Selling in more than one language? On Webflow that is Webflow Localize Essential on top, from $12 a month per added language, or Weglot. In Astro it is included: Astro’s i18n routing, with the product translations from Shopify.

Prices billed monthly, checked September 23, 2026; Cloudflare and Webflow Localize Essential on October 20, 2026. On Lite the Smootify line is $19 on both paths. Cloudflare is counted at $5, the Workers Paid plan, for form emails; or send forms through the Metaobject creator add-on, at no extra cost on Server.

What is not there yet.

A public starter

There is no Astro starter repository yet. Your agent starts from the Figma kit.

Every demo store online in Astro

All three demo stores work in Astro and can be rebuilt in Studio from their Figma files. Millimetro and Sunday Crate are online in Astro; the online Astro demo of Spannbach is on the way.
