Plus features, without the Plus contract.
Not for calculated prices, quotes or build-your-own bundles: with Smootify they run on Shopify Basic, Grow and Advanced, the prices and quotes through a draft order and the bundles merged at checkout. Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a 3-year term; Shopify Basic, a Webflow Basic site plan and the Smootify Server plan come to $113 a month. Every number here can be checked on the pricing pages.
A custom price, two ways to pay it.
A price chosen by the customer, or worked out from their options: Plus and Smootify both let them pay it. The difference is where they pay.
Inside the normal checkout
- The customer picks the options, or types the amount.
- The price changes in the cart.
- They pay in Shopify’s normal checkout.
Everything works as usual. It needs the Plus plan, from about $2,300 a month.
Through an order ready to pay
- The customer picks the options, or types the amount.
- The price changes in the cart.
- At checkout, Smootify turns the cart into an order with that exact price, ready to pay.
- They pay on a Shopify payment page. The order lands in your admin like any other.
Shopify calls this a draft order: an order prepared with its price, that the customer pays by link. It is a standard Shopify feature, on every plan.
What changes for your customer
Another payment page
It is Shopify’s page for paying an order, not the usual checkout. It is Shopify’s own secure page, and it looks a little different.
Discounts and fast buttons
Discount codes, Shop Pay and buttons like Apple Pay can behave differently there. Test them before you launch.
The whole cart goes together
If one product has a custom price, the whole cart is paid this way, the normal products included.
Leaving means starting again
If the customer closes the payment page, their cart is empty when they come back.
No subscriptions in the same payment
Products on subscription can’t be paid together with a custom price.
When it is the right choice
Gift cards, made-to-measure products and quotes work well this way. If you need discount codes on custom-priced products, that is a job for Plus.
What you give up.
Without this part the comparison would not be worth reading.
A custom price in the normal checkout
Only Plus puts it there. With Smootify the customer pays a custom price on a Shopify payment page instead, as explained above.
Plus-only admin tools
Automation and launch tools that ship with Plus stay with Plus. We do not replace them.
A dedicated Shopify contact
Plus merchants get a Shopify account team. With us, support comes from our team and the community.
