A country, or a group of countries, a Shopify store sells to with its own settings: currency, prices, languages, domain and which products are available.
Shopify Markets organizes international selling. Each market is one or more countries with its own settings:
- the currency, and prices converted or set by hand;
- the languages customers can read the store in;
- the products that are sold there;
- taxes and duties, and whether prices include them.
A visitor belongs to one market at a time, usually the one of their country. Everything they see follows it: the prices, the currency, the language and what is available.
In Webflow terms
Webflow Localization translates the pages and gives each language its address. Shopify markets decide prices, currency and availability. A store selling abroad uses both: Webflow for the language of the pages, Shopify for what the visitor can buy and at what price.
In Smootify
Smootify asks Shopify for the visitor’s market, and every price, currency and product on the page follows it. On the page:
- a country switcher lets the visitor change country, and the language follows Webflow Localization or Weglot;
- the market suggestion proposes the visitor’s own country when they arrive on another one;
- a product not sold in the market can show a message instead of an empty block, with
condition="product-unavailable".
On a site with Webflow Localization, the language changes through Webflow’s own locales, so the page address changes with it.
