A way to sell a product other than as a one-time purchase, such as a subscription every two weeks or a pre-order, set up by an app and attached to the product.
By default, a Shopify product is bought once, at its price. A selling plan adds another way to buy it: delivered every two weeks at 10% off, ordered now and shipped later, tried before it is paid. Plans come in groups, and a product can have several, such as “Every week”, “Every 2 weeks” and “Every month”.
Shopify does not create selling plans on its own: a subscriptions app does, such as Shopify’s own Subscriptions app. The app also handles the renewals and lets customers manage their subscriptions. The checkout charges the plan the customer chose.
In Webflow terms
Webflow Ecommerce has no subscriptions. In a Smootify store the plans live in Shopify, and the product page you design shows them as choices next to the options.
In Smootify
Smootify shows a product’s plans and sells them: subscription-swatches lists the plans for the customer to choose, and the prices on the page follow the choice. It does not create the plans: they come from the subscriptions app.
