2.0 Beta

Smootify 2.0 is in public beta. Your 1.x store keeps working. Move when you want.

What changed
Every plan

Metaobjects in, metaobjects out.

Show Shopify metaobjects anywhere on your site, in Webflow or Astro, and let a form create them. With Shopify Flow on top, that is a backend you don't have to write.

A metaobject is a set of related fields you define in Shopify: a designer, a material, a certification, a review. Smootify reads one or a list, and the Metaobject Creator writes new ones from a form.

What's in it.

Components come with every plan. Add-ons say which plan they need.

Single metaobject

Component

Load one metaobject when a page needs specific, structured data.

Metaobject list

Component

A grid or list of metaobjects from Shopify, in your design.

Metaobject creator

Server add-on

A normal form that creates a metaobject in Shopify.

Your site writes, Shopify keeps, Flow reacts.

The parts most people never find in the docs.

01

The form is a plain form

Nothing exotic to design. The one rule: each input name matches the field key in the metaobject.

02

The data lands in Shopify

It becomes a real metaobject: visible in the admin, referenced by products, and read back on the site with the same elements.

03

Flow does the rest

Shopify Flow starts on “Metaobject entry created”: send an email, tag a customer, update a metafield, call an endpoint. The Flow library has the workflows ready to import.

04

Moderation built in

data-draft creates the metaobject as a draft, so a review goes live only when the merchant approves it.

05

Files too

A file input inside the form uploads photos and documents: a receipt, a drawing, a review photo.

06

Same thing, ten times

Reviews, back-in-stock, price-drop alerts, warranty registration, waitlists, dealer applications, event sign-ups, defect reports, custom quotes, post-purchase feedback. Same mechanism, different fields.

Where people get stuck
  1. Input names must match the keys exactly. my-title on the site and my_title in Shopify does not save, and says nothing.
  2. Create the metaobject definition first. Storefront access to show the entries on the site, Active-draft status to approve them before they show.
  3. Writing needs the Server plan: the metaobject is created by our server, not the browser.
  4. Flow is a separate Shopify app. It is free, but it has to be installed.

The rest of the store.
