Money a store puts on a customer's account, such as a refund or a loyalty reward, which the customer spends at checkout; it needs Shopify's new customer accounts.
Store credit is a balance on a customer’s account, in the store’s currency. The store gives it, from the customer’s page in the admin, from a refund, or from an automation, such as a Shopify Flow workflow that sends an Admin API request. The customer spends it at checkout, where it pays all or part of an order.
It is not a gift card: a gift card is a code anyone can use, store credit belongs to one customer and needs them to log in, with Shopify’s new customer accounts.
Stores use it for:
- refunds that keep the money in the store;
- loyalty rewards, without a points app;
- goodwill after a problem with an order.
In Webflow terms
There is nothing like it in Webflow: it is a balance kept by Shopify on the customer.
In Smootify
store-credit in the account pages shows the customer’s balance and its movements. The credit is spent at the Shopify checkout: the site only shows it.
